What happens if I lose my phone with 2FA activated?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) provides an added layer of security when logging in to WriteUpp and as the name suggests it uses two mechanisms (instead of one) to verify your identity. These are:

  • Username/password - like normal
  • Your mobile phone

If you lose your mobile phone you will be unable to login to WriteUpp unless you have checked "Trust this device" (shown below) when you last logged in using 2FA.

If you haven't previously checked "Trust this device" and you have lost your phone you will need to contact your Site Administrator and ask them to "Reset 2FA" on your account. Then, when you have found your phone or you have a replacement you will need to go through the 2FA set up process again. The article below explains how you do this:
